September is the beginning and the end of many things but it truly is a month of change.
Living in the country I am always aware that it is September 1st because I wake up to the sounds of gun fire. Families have traded in their swimming pools for hunting licenses as the first day of Dove season opens. We also celebrate Labor Day with possibly the last picnic, boating, or campout of the summer. It is the month when we start transitioning from summer to fall. Many changes seem to take place during the month of September but did you also know that September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness month? Why don't we get behind our children and support them this month. There is nothing more sad to me than to see a little toddler pushing his/her chemo pole down a hospital hallway; or to watch young teenagers - trying to smile amidst the sickness and pain - when they should be out having fun with their friends. There is nothing more heartbreaking than to watch a mother cry because her child just died from this horrible disease called cancer. I remember praying, "Please God, don't let that be me", but on September 21, 2004 - it was my turn to walk in those shoes.
I want you to honor the child(ren) in your life. Whether you have a child or not - I think we all know at least one child in our life. Honor them in some special way - tell them you love them - because life is very fragile.
I have created my very first ever sketch and I want you to use it to create a layout about that special child or children in your life. Once you have created the layout using the sketch, come back here and post a link to it along with your email (in case you win) by midnight September 30, I will draw for a prize! (Contest is only open to US and Canadian residents - sorry)
I look forward to seeing all of the great pages that are made with this sketch!
