J O Y

My word for 2009 will be JOY

The word Joy brings to mind many different feelings but for the most part when I think of "Joy" I don't necessarily think of "happiness".

The word "joy" is used 165 times in the KJV Bible. James said, "My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience." James 1:1, 2

Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians 1:6, 7 "And ye became followers of us, and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost: So that ye were ensamples to all that believe in Macedonia and Achaia."

Amongst afflictions, trials, adversaties, and the basic "storms of life", I can maintain my Joy, because it is not dependent upon the circumstances around me.

The Greek word for Joy is Chara which means cheerfulness, a calm-delight.

May your "joy be full" this year, 2009!
