Glitz Design

Glitz Design, winner of the CHA 2009 Exhibiting with Excellence BEST OF SHOW award, brings you some of the hottest trends in the scrapbooking industry. From Eye Candy to Distressing Stamps, Stickers, Paper, and Rub-on’s, you are going to find trendy products that will definitely add a little “Glitz” to your designs!

The products I was sent to work with are from the Sparrow collection. I received one each; Rub on’s, Alpha cardstock stickers (2 sheets), Journaling cardstock stickers, and, Titles cardstock stickers. I also received a Roller Doodle; Giant Roller Distressing Grid.

The cardstock stickers were made of a heavy weight paper that removed easily from the backing paper. I also loved the fact that 2 sheets of Alpha cardstock stickers were included in the package since I continually run out of certain letters, vowels mostly. The rub on’s were easy to manage and transferred onto my projects with minimal effort.

The Roller Doodle comes in two different sizes, small and giant. Now don’t let the word “giant” scare you, the roller itself is only 1 inch wide. The Distressing Grid roller is a pattern of mesh-like squares that when rolled across an ink pad gives you a continuous pattern.

The Sparrow Alpha cardstock stickers are a really nice brown color but for my layout, I really needed them to be black in order to match with my Sparrow cardstock title, “Delight”. To solve this dilemma I used a permanent black marker and colored over the letters that I would use in my title. To add a bit of distressing I used the Distressing Grid roller and brown ink to make a pattern over the dot patterned paper and along the side and bottom of the photo. A Journaling cardstock sticker provided a nice frame around my journaling and a few of the rub on’s added the final embellishment.

My son took this picture last year and the “exquisite” rub on found in the Sparrow collection seemed to fit perfectly. I also used the Distress Grid Roller Doodle with brown ink on the petals of my flower and along the edge of my layout. To help my roller pattern stay in a straight line I used a ruler and ran the roller along the edge. I then used the Sparrow Alpha cardstock stickers for my title and added a rub on to the end of my title and my layout was finished in under 20 minutes!
