Celebrating Freedom in the Good 'Ole USA!!!

I really wanted to get some decent shots of fireworks this year. I have had my DSLR for over a year now and I am starting to get slightly comfortable shooting in modes other than auto ;=)

After some research I found that I really needed to get a remote shutter release. I ordered one but it won't be here until tomorrow (Mon) so I was going to have to rely on my tripod and a steady hand.

I also found that what makes fireworks shots so interesting is not only the fireworks themseleves but the surroundings, i.e landscape, people, buidlings, etc. When we arrived at the Melissa firework show I was not sure where they would be shooting them off so I opted to only get great pictures of the fireworks and not worry about the surrounds, at least for this year.

I set my camera to Aperture and my setting were ISO 200, f 1/8 and thise is some of the pictures I got:

So there you have it - a sampling of the fireworks shots that I got this weekend. They may not be "professional" but they are the best shots I have ever gotten!
I hope all of my blogger friends had a wonderful 4th of July!
