It Is Just Who I Am

Today is the last day of Back to Blogging that is being sponsored by SITS along with Standards of Excellence, Westar, and Florida Builder Appliances . I have enjoyed all of the writing prompts this week and how they have caused me to refocus on the purpose of this blog. Of course the thought of winning Thelma and Louise, the Turquoise Sky Washer and Dryer from Electrolux is pretty inspiring as well.

The topic for this challenge is:

Why do you blog?”.

Today I am going to answer that question and hopefully give you some insight into some upcoming projects.

The name of my blog (in case you didn’t already know lol) is Not Just Paper and Glue. Over the years I have tried desperately to stay “on topic” or in my “niche” but it just isn’t me.

What is suppose to be the “niche” of my blog?

Fortunately (or unfortunately) I find that I want to also share happenings on our farm; my adventures in cheesemaking; cooking; my home decor projects; childhood cancer; and just about anything that suites my fancy at the time – hence - “Not Just Paper and Glue” because ‘life is so much more’!

But why do I blog?

I started my blog as a way to share the projects I was making for different scrapbook manufacturers and then we moved our farm and I blogged about that as well. Everything kinda got jumbled together.

Before we moved, I hosted classes in my home. It was my way of sharing my creativity with others and it thrills me to see a person’s face light up when they have created something beautiful. Once we moved I had no creative outlet with other crafters so I began sharing on my blog with whoever wanted to read. It is a way for me to continue to teach and I envision a class of smiling faces that are lit up when I receive your sweet comments.

About a year ago I convinced my husband to move into the world of blogging. He agreed to shut down our farm website and I moved most of my farm related blog posts to the new blog…

Gospel Witness Farm

Since then I began to devote the majority of my blog posts to things that are creative, but i have found that I digress way too often. If you stick around here for very long you will find a menagerie of creativity and everyday happenings – it is just who I am.

Moving forward to these past few weeks.

I have been thinking about the journey I would like for my blog to take. I wondered if I should post a poll or just send out an email. When this challenge started I decided to post some of my thoughts here..

  • tutorials in downloadable pdf
  • video tutorials
  • back to basics crafting ideas
  • crafting challenges
  • eBooks

What do you think? I realize that I am writing this for you, my readers, so I would love to hear your opinions on what you would like, or not like, to see here at “Not Just Paper and Glue”. Please leave suggestions in the comments section or feel free to email me. Your opinion really matters to me.

Thank you for sticking with me this week as I worked through the Back to Blogging challenge. I am looking forward to next week and sharing some crafty projects I have finished this week.

BTW – For those of you who have asked, I am working on a tutorial about the differences between Modge Podge and Gels.
