More Than an Honorable Mention

Today is Day #4 of the Back 2 Blogging Challenge at SITS. While we all want to win Thelma and Louise I am very grateful for today’s topic
Write a post about a woman who inspires you”.

You may now be asking yourself “who are Thelma and Louise?” Well,they could very easily be the pair that is inspiring me along with many other bloggers to write on this subject today, but they are not. Thelma and Louise are a beautiful Turquoise Sky Washer and Dryer from Electrolux and they have been generously donated by Standards of Excellence, Westar, and Florida Builder Appliances

Today's topic is really about why I named my blog “Not Just Paper and Glue”. Life is so much more than just crafting; it is about sharing what we love and taking a moment to listen to what my readers tell me. It is about caring for one another and sometimes that goes way beyond “Just Paper and Glue”.
Today I want to share with you my real life friend who I have admired through the years and she has taught me so much about caring for other and just being the person that God has created me to be. I will call her Sister C. (we call our Christian female friends “sister”).
The aged women likewise, that [they be] in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things; That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children, [To be] discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed. Titus 2:3-5
  • Sister C. lives these verses
  • Her words are always encouraging because she speaks truth from God’s word;
  • She never changes, how you saw her yesterday is how you see her today;
  • She is not a gossip;
  • She is a prayer warrior;
  • She is kind;
  • She is always willing to listen
She is a true Christian Friend!
Sister C. has had her share of troubles and trials just like you and I have, but you would never know it by the way she lives her life. I am not sure if their is a mean bone in her body – she loves people the way that Christ loves us.
She one time told me that nothing can replace prayer and hearing from God but sometimes we just need “Jesus with flesh on”. This means that sometimes we just need a Christian friend to talk to….. to lean on…. to bear our burdens to. She told me that God understands that because His Son confided in His disciples many times throughout His ministry. More than once Sister C. has been “Jesus with flesh on” for me, in fact she was there for me this week.

Sister C. and I have been down paths that we have walked together on and others that were far apart but regardless, I always knew she was just a phone call away.

When we are together or around people that know us both, I get asked quite often if she is my sister. Of course, they are referring to a “blood sister” but I will usually tell them, “Yes we are – in the Lord”. I am not sure how an Indian and an Italian can look like sisters but apparently we do to many people and we both take it as a compliment.

Regardless of how much we may or may not look alike, I want my spirit to be like hers…
  • loving
  • joyful
  • peaceful
  • longsuffering
  • gentle
  • good
  • faithful
  • meek
  • full of temperance
She is Honorable!
Tomorrow I will share with you some things that I will be sharing with you in the future that are crafty related. Remember “Life is Not Just Paper and Glue – it’s a whole lot more”!!!
I want to thank the SITS Girls for this very fun Back to Blogging event and for such a fabulous prize package. If you are interested, you still have time to join in on the fun!
