Anyone who knows me is aware that I do not like fall. If I could have fall without the cold, I would be one happy camper and totally embrace the season. Unfortunately, that is not the case around here even though I live in the south. Granted, it could be worse.
The other day my husband went with me to Hobby Lobby and he started picking out all of these fall decorations. Now, if my husband starts buying stuff at Hobby Lobby, I am not going to stop him – even if it is stuff for fall!
This copper pot and shoes has been sitting in our flower beds for half of the summer and only housed a failing tomato plant. Something desperately needed to be done so this was my husband’s project – to transform the Copper Boiler into a welcoming fall decoration.
He got the leaf garland, hay bale, and pumpkins at Hobby Lobby for 50% off and then we went to Wal-Mart and found the little stick scarecrows for $1 each. I found the little welcome sign in my box of Fall items and added that to his decor along with picking up the two plants and adding them to the boots. My son things the plants look really dumb in the boots, but I think it looks kinda cute. What do you think?
My project was to do something with the two hanging baskets. (Only one is shown) I love these baskets but something has never looked quite right and then I realized that all of the metal around the house is painted black and the baskets were brown. Duh!!
I grabbed a can of spray paint and gave them a facelift. I can’t tell you how much better I felt about these baskets after I had them repainted! I purchased new liners for the bottom baskets (couldn’t find the smaller ones) and got these mums for $3.33 at Wal-Mart. We have guests coming the end of next week so I hope they are going to be blooming by then.
I added the fall garland that we got at Hobby Lobby around the edges of the baskets. For the top basket I added the gourds (candle ring holders) to the chain. I then placed a pumpkin in the center.
I am not so sure I really like the pumpkin because it doesn’t really show up. I am thinking that maybe I should just get a smaller mum to place in the tops of each of the baskets.
What do you think? Any suggestions?
