Best Biscuit Mix

1
8 cups flour
1/3 cup baking powder
2 tsp cream of tartar
3 T sugar
1 1/2 cups dry milk powder
Mix together thoroughly.

Hint: I add my flour in lumps so that I know how many cups I have put into the bowl in case I get interrupted or side tracked.

Add to flour mixture:
2 cups vegetable shortening Cut in until mixture is fine uniform crumbles.

The mixture does not turn brown, I just got some really bad lighting from my camera for some reason. Sorry.

Store in an air tight container in cool dry place. I store mine in a gallon zip lock bag.

Yields: 13 cups mix which makes 45 to 30 biscuits

This mix also makes Cinnamon Rolls, Pancakes, Pizza dough, Pot Pie crust, and fruit shortcakes.

Tomorrow I will show you how to make the best homemade biscuits using this mix…

  2. Sounds like a great shortcut! I rarely make biscuits, but how do you use this to make cinnamon rolls? I've always used a yeast dough for those.
