We've all heard that "April Showers bring May Flowers" and I am so thankful that winter has finally decided to relinquish its hold and given in to beautiful spring days.
Because of the long winter it seems the Texas Wildflowers are blooming a bit late this year. After patiently waiting they have finally begun popping up along the roadsides and I'v even been able to get a few shots that included the beloved Bluebonnets.
Winter has decided to hang around a little longer than necessary (in my opinion) so I decided to get a jump on spring. Nothing says spring to me more than flowers!
Since our "April Showers" (which were more like "Winter Flurries") were suppose to bring "May Flowers" (yes, I realize it is still April, but around here we try to get a jump on things) I decided to take matters in to my own hands.
As I was thinking about all the month of May I realized that we can actually celebrate a couple of different holidays, the first being May Day. This is a holiday that is not widely celebrated here in America but since it is right around the corner, and it would help me beat the winter blues, I came up with this sweet gift idea. Any excuse to craft with chocolate and flowers is a great idea to me.
Like any good crafter, I had these glass bottles in my stash. I glued some twine around the body of the bottle and then used hot glue to attach my handmade paper flowers to the twine.

Now I can fill them with candy and give them to friends and neighbors. Who knows... I might possibly start a new May Day tradition.
Do have any May Day traditions? If so, I would love to hear about them.
